Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Perioperative Care Tech to assist RNs in delivering perioperative care and to manage supplies for same-day add-on procedures and next-day surgeries. The role emphasizes independent work, accuracy, and patient safety in a fast-paced surgical setting.

Hours are 6am-2:30pm Monday through Friday with a weekend call rotation (8am-4:30pm Sat/Sun every 6 weeks). A proactive, self-starter attitude and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical terminology proficiency and strong English communication skills required.
• CPR – Basic Life Support certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN in delivering direct and indirect perioperative care.
• Pick disposable supplies, trays and peel packed instruments for procedures.
• Prepare and maintain a safe, clean perioperative environment.
• Accurately document patient data and care activities.
• Provide information and updates to patients and families in a timely manner.
• Support department quality improvement initiatives and cost-reduction efforts.
