Job summary

TEGNA—News Center Maine in Portland seeks a Morning News Anchor to deliver authoritative, authentic news for broadcast and streaming platforms. You will anchor the 4:30–9 a.m. newscasts on weekday mornings and produce two daily mobile shorts for digital audiences.

The ideal candidate has 7–10 years of reporting/anchoring, a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism, and strong writing, ethics, and social media savvy to engage statewide viewers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism or similar field.
• 7–10 years of experience reporting and anchoring.
• Fluent, authentic anchoring of breaking news with clean, conversational writing.
• Active on social platforms is helpful.

TEGNA’s powerhouse NEWS CENTER Maine (WCSH/WLBZ) is looking for a Morning News Anchor who communicates news and information effortlessly and authentically. This position is full-time and is based in our Portland newsroom.

We are looking for a team-first anchor who is a smart news hound with a heart. Someone who enjoys anchoring newscasts, sharing the latest news for our statewide audience on broadcast and stream. We expect a journalist who fully embraces our broadcast, streaming, and mobile shorts platforms.

In this job you will anchor our top-rated newscasts from 4:30–9 a.m. Monday through Friday (plus fill-in anchor occasionally weekend mornings) and produce two daily mobile shorts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism or similar field
• 7-10 years of experience Reporting and Anchoring
• Fluid and authentic anchoring of breaking news
• Clean, conversational broadcast writing
• Excellent and ethical journalistic decision making
• Active on X, FB, Instagram, and Snapchat is helpful
• Knowledge of CUEZ, Edius, and Axis graphics a plus

Pay Range

$90,000—$100,000 USD
