Job summary

Ambassador Hotel Wichita in downtown Wichita, Kansas, seeks an experienced line cook to prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner and banquets according to standardized recipes and quality standards. You will set up stations, portion ingredients, and maintain cleanliness and food safety during service.

Ideal candidates have prior commercial cooking experience, knowledge of kitchen equipment and safety, and the ability to work flexible hours in a high-volume hotel environment.

Qualifications

• Previous commercial cooking or line cook experience preferred.
• Knowledge of food preparation techniques, knife skills, and kitchen equipment.
• Ability to read and follow standardized recipes and production sheets.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, temperature controls, and proper handling procedures.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Food Handler or ServSafe certification where required by law.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, banquet, and event items per recipes and guidelines.
• Set up, stock, organize, and break down kitchen stations for service.
• Prepare ingredients by chopping, portioning, weighing, and storing for daily production.
• Cook a variety of menu items using grilling, roasting, broiling, sautéing, baking, and more.
• Monitor food quality, presentation, temperatures, and temperatures during service.
• Maintain proper food rotation, labeling, storage, sanitation, and safety standards.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and clean work areas and equipment.
• Communicate with Sous Chefs and team to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Support teammates during peak periods with speed, accuracy, and quality.
• Focus on minimizing waste and controlling food costs while ensuring guest satisfaction.
