Job Description: As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), you are the front line of the Clinical Department. Your work will ensure our residents receive the high standard of care they have grown to expect at The Grove Evanston. This role assits our Central Supply and Transportation Coordinator with escorting residents to their appointments as well as helping with the unloading and delivery of supplies to the patient floors. When there are no appointments to escort residents to, the employee is responsible for helping patient floors with feeding residents, passing trays, or anything else the staff may need help with at the time.Our residents will depend on your knowledge, skills, and attention to detail to ensure they are comfortable and safe. Essential functions will include the following to name a few;

  • Performs a variety of activities related to the transportation of patients.
  • Meet and greet all new all patients under their care.
  • Transport patients to and from medical appointments via ambulance services including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips and special equipment.
  • Assists patients in and out of vehicles, carries luggage and provides confidential messenger services.
  • Ensures patient is properly identified before transporting.
  • Confirms method of transport and any special needs.
  • Provides superior customer service and attentiveness to patients while transporting them
  • Provides quality nursing care to Guests in an environment that promotes their rights, dignity and freedom of choice.
  • Provides individualized attention, which encourages each Guest’s ability to maintain or attain the highest practical physical, mental and psychosocial well-being.
  • Carry out assignments required for the Guest’s activities of daily living (ADL’s) which include but not limited to bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
  • Attends to individual needs of all Guests in regards to incontinent care, transferring, ambulation, range of motion, communication and other needs.
  • Provides care that maintains each Guest’s skin integrity to prevent pressure ulcers, skin tears and other damage by changing incontinent Guests, turning, repositioning immobile Guests and by applying moisturizers to fragile skin and other areas.
  • Performs various tasks assigned by the floor nurse including checking vital signs, weighing Guests, applying creams/ointments and collecting specimens.
  • Must be knowledgeable of individual care plans and support the care planning process by providing supervisors with specific information and observations of the Guest’s needs, preferences and report any behavioral changes.


Pay: $18.50 - $25 per hour. This is an SEIU union position.
