Solution Engineer (Aeron and Capital Markets)

We are now looking for a Solution Engineer to join our team in New York City.

  • Be accountable for the success and technical excellence of solutions delivered to clients at Adaptive:
    • Through individual contribution to the codebase on the most challenging aspects of a Delivery
    • Ensuring the output quality of the team you work meets the standards within Adaptive
    • Through the application of best practices within design and development (e.g. separation of concerns)
    • Through the advocacy of testing approaches (e.g. behaviour driven testing)
    • By helping to define and facilitate the adoption of standards within teams
    • Through the definition of performant and resilient architecture, and detailed design informed by the domain and client need
  • Be expected to advocate for technical decisions to your Team, Clients and other Stakeholders
  • Be able to lead a team in proper adherence to software development lifecycle processes
  • Be able to work with leadership to ensure that delivered work meets time, budget and possible constraints
  • Be comfortable escalating and articulating risks to team members, management and clients
YOU HAVE
  • Experience in providing mentorship and support to team members
  • Significant, professional experience within capital markets, developing software solutions using Java in a highly performant, low latency manner.
  • Experience using Aeron in a high‑performance scenario within capital markets or digital assets.
  • Familiarity with appropriate data structures and their usages (e.g. sets, maps and queues)
  • Relevant experience in building solutions within these domains:
    • Order Management Systems
    • Execution Management Systems
    • Smart Order Routing
    • Trading Venues & Exchanges
    • Matching Engines
    • FIX Gateways
    • Experienced in working within an Agile environment and following a mature SDLC
    • Distributed Systems and Consensus Algorithms
    • Event‑driven architecture
    • Replicated State Machines

THE PROCESS

Long interview processes are stressful and boring, and that is not us. We want to make sure that everything runs smoothly.

So here you will have three stage interviews:

  1. Chat with one of our great recruiters
  2. Interview with our technology leadership team, involving questions and a design exercise focused on your technology knowledge and your experiences with designing and delivering capital markets solutions, as well as your approach to leadership
  3. Final meeting with our executive leadership team

But don’t worry; everything will be explained to you step by step by your recruiter.

Base pay will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package. Pay is based on candidate skills and experience.

New York pay range

$230,000 — $270,000 USD
