Job summary

The Nutrition Group is seeking a substitute food service worker to serve as head cook in the Montrose Area SD school kitchen. Training will be provided and duties include cooking, portioning, sanitation, and cost monitoring.

The role requires reliable transportation and a willingness to learn, with food service experience preferred. Candidate must obtain clearances and pass background checks; responsibilities also include cash handling and maintaining USDA/state compliance in a fast-paced school

About the Job:

This substitute food service worker position will be working in the Montrose Area SD school kitchen/cafeteria on an as-needed basis as a head cook. Training will be provided.

Duties may include:

• Cooking andfood preparation
• Portioning and serving food
• Sanitation in conjunction with USDA and state guidelines
• HAACP and health department regulation compliance
• Assisting to monitor costs and inventory controls
• Operating a cash register/money handling
• Manual Dishwashing/ Cleaning duties

Qualifications:

• Must obtain clearances and pass criminal background checks
• Ability to read recipes and basic math skills required
• A positive and consistent work ethic
• Reliable transportation to and from work
• A willingness to learn and grow within your position
• Food service experience preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
