Job summary

Villa Montessori in Leesburg, VA is seeking an Assistant Toddler Teacher to provide an authentic Montessori experience for children aged 16 months to 6 years, working with teachers and families to support growth, independence, confidence and community.

Responsibilities include supervising children, assisting the lead teacher, guiding self-directed activities, and maintaining materials, while communicating with parents and keeping the classroom organized.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ years’ experience in a licensed childcare facility preferred.
• Ability to multitask and remain organized.
• Must meet state criteria for childcare employment.
• Associate degree in early childhood development preferred.
• Familiarity with the Montessori approach to education.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring the safety and supervision of children ages 16 months – 6 years.
• Assist and support the lead teacher with supervision of children in the classroom while fostering an environment that will allow children to develop at their own pace.
• Work with individual and small groups of children as directed by the lead teacher.
• Create a rapport with the children and be responsive to their needs, guiding them through self-directed activities.
• Maintain open lines of communication with parents to answer questions.
• Responsible for the care and maintenance of the classroom, teaching materials and equipment.
