Job summary

Endeavor Health’s Chicago location is seeking a Teacher Assistant I to support Montessori classrooms. You will help manage arrivals and dismissals, maintain a clean learning environment, and assist with Montessori materials under the supervising teacher.

Daily tasks include guiding children during activities, organizing snack times, participating in outdoor activities, and attending staff meetings to align programs with center standards.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma required.
• Certification: First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
• Experience: Experience in day care or Montessori child care/pre-school preferred.
• Unique or preferred skills: organizational ability, sound judgment, effective communication, and ability to plan and implement classroom programs to achieve institutional goals.

Responsibilities

• Manages arrival and dismissal of the children in the Montessori manner.
• Maintains upkeep of the environment.
• Makes Montessori materials under guidance of the supervising teacher.
• Assists teacher during Montessori “work” time to guide children through “work”.
• Organizes snack times, directs group activities and assists with outdoor activities.
• Attends staff meetings, in-service meetings, and participates in planning programs forCenter.
• Assists teachers at meal times.
• Assists children/adults in toilet or diapering procedures.
• Assists Dietary Aide in distribution of food.
• Cleans tables, floors, and dishes according to City of Chicago and DCFS Standards.
