Job summary

Diyanet Center of America Montessori School in Lanham, MD is seeking a full-time Montessori Primary Lead Teacher to maintain a prepared Montessori classroom and guide self-directed learning. The role requires AMS or AMI certification and at least one year of preschool teaching experience.

You will document progress, communicate with parents, develop age-appropriate lessons, and collaborate with staff to ensure a cohesive program. Salary range is $40,000–$42,000 with a 7-hour weekday schedule.

Qualifications

• AMS or AMI Montessori Primary certification is required.
• Minimum of one year of experience teaching in a preschool setting.
• Strong understanding of the Montessori philosophy and its classroom application.
• Ability to develop age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with Montessori curriculum.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain a prepared Montessori classroom environment.
• Guide and observe children as they engage in self-directed learning activities.
• Present Montessori materials and lessons in a clear and concise manner.
• Document children’s progress and development using Montessori observation methods.
• Create & maintain excellent consistent communication with parents and guardians verbally, in writing.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive learning experience for all children.
• Maintain & update continuously classroom parent portal.

The DCA Montessori classroom is a nonprofit, single classroom. Our mission is to provide an environment that promotes a love of learning, independence, responsibility, socialization, grace, and courtesy.

The DCA is seeking passionate and dedicated individuals in the field of Early Childhood Education that are bright, and caring individuals who are present with the children.

Requirements:

Minimum of one year of experience teaching in a preschool setting.

Strong understanding of the Montessori philosophy and its application in the classroom desired.

Experience creating a warm, inviting, and stimulating learning environment.

Ability to develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with Montessori curriculum.
