Public Lab seeks a Monitoring Methods Fellow to help document water monitoring methods used around the oil and gas industry. The role focuses on research, interviews, and community-driven documentation on PublicLab.org, highlighting methods, advocacy, and real-world impact.

Based in the United States, you will collaborate with a diverse team, engage with local and online communities, and contribute to an open-access resource on water quality monitoring practices and related activism.

Qualifications

• Excellent interviewing and documentation skills.

• Collaborative work with both in-person and remote teams.

Responsibilities

• Identify methods used by water quality groups in oil & gas areas.
• Draft research notes documenting use cases for monitoring methods.
• Interview and share monitoring and advocacy stories on PublicLab.org.
• Develop a wiki page highlighting monitoring approaches for advocacy.
• Identify ways for newcomers to start water quality monitoring.
• Engage the Public Lab community in-person and remotely.
• Support matching concerns with study designs and tools.
• Collaborate on a Research Area Review for water quality monitoring.
• Join the Public Lab Oil & Gas Slack channel.
• Attend weekly Fellows call or project updates when possible.
• Maintain nonprofit policies and Public Lab values.
