Job Summary
  • PRN Days
  • $25/hr pay rate
  • Must have EKG experience and be able to understand the rhythms

Monitors heart rhythm patterns of patients to detect abnormal variances using telemetry equipment. Reviews patient information to determine normal and current heart rhythm patterns and prior variances. Observes the cardiac monitor screen and listens for alarms to identify abnormal variations.

Essential Functions
  • Monitors telemetry of patients by observing for changes in cardiac rhythms.
  • Removes and cleans telemetry boxes when patients are discharged from telemetry.
  • Maintains accurate records of telemetry patients.
  • Immediately notifies RN or supervisor of rhythm changes.
  • Sets up the monitor system, transmits, and wires for telemetry patients.
  • Troubleshoots transmitters and wires as needed.
  • Stays informed of regulations for food safety and sanitation.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Expectations
  • Must read, write, and speak fluent English.
  • Must have good and regular attendance.
  • Satisfactory score on EKG interpretation competency test.
  • Ability to accurately identify cardiac rhythms and understand their significance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
Licenses/Certifications
  • Current BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • EKG certification required.
Experience
  • Prior experience required.
