The Monitor Technician is supervised by a licensed professional. They are responsible for monitoring patients on cardiac telemetry, continuously observing and recording changes in rhythm, and maintaining all activity records for their shift. They perform 12-lead EKGs, communicate ongoing with physicians and patient care providers, and ensure telemetry monitoring equipment is cleaned with hospital-approved disinfectant. They also report any maintenance issues and are responsible for ordering supplies related to cardiac telemetry monitoring.
