Overview

The Monitoring Technician is responsible for ongoing surveillance of patient cardiac monitors, providing immediate notification to RNs and clinicians of any changes in cardiac rhythms. The role involves reviewing patient information to determine normal and abnormal heart rhythm patterns, working cooperatively as part of a team, and performing duties aligned with our mission, values, and service standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining high-level surveillance of patient's cardiac rhythms and alerting staff of any changes.
  • Measuring, interpreting, and documenting heart rhythms.
  • Managing monitoring equipment during patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Performing clerical duties related to patient information.
  • Observing patient condition changes and reporting immediately.
  • Answering calls and communicating effectively with staff and providers.
  • Performing computer functions related to monitoring systems.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D., with monitor tech course completion or an 85% score on competency exam.
  • Basic computer skills, attention to detail, multitasking ability, and excellent communication skills.
  • Experience preferred but not mandatory; CRAT certification preferred.
