Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health seeks a Monitor Technician for night, part-time with benefits, to monitor patient telemetry rhythms and support cardiology care. You will observe systems, admit/discharge patients, and perform rhythm strip analysis in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Required are a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years in health-related fields, 1 year in cardiology, and completion of a monitor technician course with HUMC Dysrhythmia Challenge Exam within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in health related fields.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in the field or related cardiology field.
• Successful completion of monitor technician course and passing HUMC Dysrhythmia Challenge Exam within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac rhythms for patients on telemetry as assigned.
• Observe telemetry system and report abnormalities promptly.
• Admit and discharge patients from telemetry monitoring as per protocol.
• Run rhythm strips from telemetry system and ensure equipment functioning.

Responsibilities

The Monitor Technician is responsible for monitoring cardiac rhythms of patients required to be monitored at specified time.

• Observes patient telemetry monitoring system and reports any abnormal responses promptly.
• Admit and discharge patients from patient telemetry monitoring system.
• Runs rhythm strips from patient telemetry monitoring system as per protocol.
• Monitors accurate functioning of patient telemetry monitoring system (i.e., battery life, rhythm clarity related to patient setup, transmitter safety).
• Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
• Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
• Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED Equivalent programs.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in health related fields.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in the field or associated field of cardiology.
• Successful completion of monitor technician course at any hospital facility and the successful passing rate on the HUMC Dysrhythmia Challenge Exam upon hire or within 6 months of hire.
• Exposure and experience in computers.

Compensation

Minimum rate of $22.22 Hourly
