Responsibilities

  1. Observe patient telemetry monitoring system and report any abnormal responses promptly.
  2. Admit and discharge patients from the telemetry monitoring system.
  3. Run rhythm strips from the telemetry monitoring system as per protocol.
  4. Monitor the accurate functioning of the telemetry system (battery life, rhythm clarity, transmitter safety).
  5. Lift a minimum of 5 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 10 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 6 hours a day.
  6. Identify the needs of the patient population served and modify and deliver care specific to those needs (e.g., age, culture, language, hearing/visual impairments). This includes communicating effectively with patients, parents, and/or caregivers at their level (developmental, educational, literacy).

Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. 2 years of experience in a health-related field.
  3. 1 year of experience in cardiology or a related field.
  4. Successful completion of a monitor technician course at any hospital facility.
  5. Passing score on the HUMC monitor technician arrhythmia exam.
  6. Exposure to and experience with computers.
