Job summary

Amtshows is seeking a stage/sound technician to fulfill sound needs for performances and rehearsals in a theatre setting. The role includes maintaining backstage, warehouse, and storage areas to ensure production values and safety.

Duties include original shows planning, load-in/load-out, sound setup, and cross-training across FOH and follow-spot tracks. Requires HS diploma or GED and hands-on audio/tool experience; benefits include health insurance and PTO.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Technical or College Degree preferred.
• Monitor or Audio experience preferred.
• Experience with hand and power tools required.
• Basic knowledge of theatrical technical systems including sound, lighting, and rigging.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction, finishing, load-in and load-out of scenery and props.
• Assist with organization and transportation of set pieces between theatre and warehouse.
• Assist with the sound design of shows, cable paths, mic placement, wedge placement.
• Lead monitors during original productions and back-up FOH mixing.
• Perform and assist with deck moves, fly rail, prop and scenic needs as assigned.
• Maintain audio equipment, mics, speakers, amps, cables, etc., and perform minor maintenance.
• Respond to problems or emergencies during performances and ensure crew safety.
• Cross-train on other technician tracks (follow spot, video, etc.).

Summary

This position is responsible for fulfilling sound needs for all performances and rehearsals at the theatre. This position is responsible for helping to maintain the safety, organization, and cleanliness of backstage, warehouse, and storage areas to ensure the quality, consistency, and highest possible production values for all shows.

Duties

Original Shows/General

Planning, Development, and Stage Tech Build (approximately 30% +/- of workload) varies due to each employee’s skills, work schedule, and build needs.

• Assist with the construction, finishing, load-in, and load-out of scenery and props
• Assist with the organization and transportation of set pieces between the theatre and the warehouse
• Assist with the sound design of shows: cable paths, mic placement, wedge placement, etc.
• Assist with the organization and transport of pieces between the theatre and the warehouse.

During Performances

• Lead monitors during original productions for the AMT cast and band/concerts
• Cross-train in the FOH sound position and mix FOH as back up when needed.
• Perform and assist with deck moves, fly rail, prop, and scenic needs as assigned.
• Promote good communication and safety habits among the crew during shows.
• Assist with the maintenance of all audio equipment, mics, speakers, amps, cables, etc.
• Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of audio equipment and cabling.
• Respond appropriately to problems or emergencies during the performance of a show
• Assist with cleaning and organization of the audio department and backstage areas as needed.
• Cross-train on other technician tracks and/or disciplines ( follow spot, video, etc.).

Concerts & Events

• Assist with load-in / load-out and the and backup running and mixing the show as needed.
• Assist the Concert Production Manager with the execution of celebrity contracts and rider requirements.
• Assist the caterer, sound vendor, and other subcontractors as needed to ensure proper administration of artist requirements.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned by management that are within the reasonable functions of this position.

Stage Tech/Build

• Approximately 30% (+/-) of workload; varies due to each employee’s skills, work schedule, and build needs, etc.
• Work as Stage Tech as needed
• Assist with the construction, finishing, load-in and load-out of scenery and props
• Assist with the organization and transportation of set pieces between the theatre and the warehouse
