Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Fort Worth is seeking a Telemetry Monitor Tech to join our on-site team in Fort Worth, TX. You will observe patient monitors, document findings, and promptly report rhythm changes to the care team.

The role supports patient care technicians and nursing staff, engaging with patients, families, and physicians while maintaining accurate records and complying with hospital policies. A strong clinical foundation is essential.

Qualifications

  • Education requirement: high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Licensure/Certification: CNA/PCT/MA or Monitor Tech Certification, BLS.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors cardiac rhythms via centrally located telemetry monitors.
  • Maintains high-level surveillance and reports dysrhythmias to the nurse/Charge Nurse.
  • Measures and documents heart rhythms in patient records per policy.
  • Initiates/discontinues monitoring on admission, transfer or discharge; configures equipment as needed.
  • Answers telephone and communicates clearly with patient care units and physicians.
  • Troubleshoots monitors with nursing staff and contacts Facilities/Biomed as appropriate.
  • Gives report to oncoming shift.
  • Cleans monitoring equipment per policy; performs clerical duties.
  • Performs clinical duties under RN or LVN supervision, including assisting patients with daily needs.
  • Cleans rooms if needed and provides support in emergencies.

Telemetry Monitor Tech at Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Fort Worth:
  • The Telemetry Monitor Technician is responsible for accurate record keeping, observation of monitors and prompt reporting of cardiac rhythm changes.
  • As the Patient Care Technician, individual will interface with visitors, patients, family, and physicians on phone and in person for Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital at Fort Worth and Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Outpatient Center.
Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent

Licensure/Certification:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Patient Care Technician (PCT), Medical Assistant (MA) Certification, or equivalent
  • Monitor Tech Certification, or completion of a basic dysrhythmias course with documented competencies
  • BLS Required
Specific Job Experience:
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a hospital setting preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Good communication and people skills
  • Excellent clinical skills appropriate for a medical assistant, nursing assistant or patient care tech
  • Ability to utilize Electronic Healthcare Record for patient documentation.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitorscardiac rhythms throughout the facility via centrally located telemetry monitors.
  • Maintains ongoing, high-level surveillance of patients’ cardiac rhythms and communicates information about dysrhythmias to the patient care nurse/Charge Nurse.
  • Measures and interprets patients’ heart rhythms and documents in patient record, per policy.
  • Initiates/discontinues monitoring on admission, transfer or discharge. Performs configuration as necessary.
  • Answers telephone and communicates clearly when receiving information from patient care units and/or physicians.
  • Troubleshoots monitors with nursing staff and contacts Facilities/Biomed as appropriate.
  • Gives report to oncoming shift.
  • Cleans monitoring equipment, per policy
  • Performsclerical duties including distribution of messages.
  • Performsclinical duties, under the direction of an RN or LVN, including assisting patients to the restroom, removing IV catheters, etc.
  • Cleansrooms if needed.
  • Providesclinical, clerical and telephone support in emergencies
  • AssistsRN’s as instructed.
  • Anyother duties as instructed by supervisor
