Job summary

AdventHealth in Winter Garden, FL seeks a Monitor Technician to support telemetry monitoring and patient care. The role requires reading EKG patterns, maintaining alarms, and communicating patient status to the nursing team.

Experience with monitor equipment and basic arrhythmias identification is preferred. Flexible scheduling may be required; training including Virtual Patient Observation is provided.

Qualifications

• Monitor technician experience or completion of AdventHealth Monitor Technician training or equivalent.
• Must read, write, and speak conversational English.
• Proficiency in English language.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Pleasant telephone manner and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with patients/public in potentially difficult situations.
• Basic arrhythmias identification course completion.
• Good oral, written, and communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple duties.
• Familiar with medical terminology and arrhythmia identification.
• Ability to learn competency check off within 90 days.
• Willingness to work weekends, nights, and overtime.
• Customer service skills.
• Knowledge of hospital nursing practices, telemetry monitors, and infection control.
• Basic computer knowledge or willingness to learn.
• Care for diverse patient needs.
• Effective communication.
• Accurate typing and neat handwriting.
• Complete Virtual Patient Observation training.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates behavior aligned with company values.

• Maintains monitor alarms per policy; ensures alarms are audible each shift.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and quality standards.
• Learns and upgrades skills; performs other duties as needed.
• Maintains telemetry printouts during cardiac arrest and as indicated.
• Communicates status and changes with healthcare team.
• Keeps work area clean, equipment sanitized and stored.
• Participates in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

• Maintains monitor alarms per policy, verifies that alarms are set and audible every shift, and troubleshoots monitors as needed.
• Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities, demonstrating accurate documentation and monitoring of activities, and supporting departmental quality standards and initiatives.
• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrade skills, performing other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or unit.
• Maintains telemetry printout during cardiac arrest and as indicated.
