Job summary

AdventHealth Parker, CO is seeking a Monitor Technician to support the telemetry unit, observe cardiac rhythms, and document findings. You will ensure alarms are active and communicate patient status to the healthcare team.

Ideal candidates have strong English communication, basic computer skills, and are willing to work weekends, nights, and overtime with training available to ensure patient safety and quality care.

Responsibilities

• Monitors telemetry equipment and documents normal and abnormal EKG patterns.
• Notifies nursing staff of abnormalities promptly.
• Maintains alarms per policy and troubleshoots as needed.
• Documents in telemetry logbook per department policy.
• Supports performance improvement initiatives and quality standards.
• Maintains clean, organized work environment and sanitizes equipment.
• Engages in ongoing education and training to stay current.

Job Description:

• Demonstrates behavior that aligns with the company’s core values.
• Documents in accordance with department policy and maintain telemetry logbook.
• Observes monitors, recognizing and documenting normal and abnormal EKG patterns, and promptly notify nursing staff of any abnormalities.
• Maintains monitor alarms per policy, verifies that alarms are set and audible every shift, and troubleshoots monitors as needed.
• Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities, demonstrating accurate documentation and monitoring of activities, and supporting departmental quality standards and initiatives.
• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrade skills, performing other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or unit.
• Maintains telemetry printout during cardiac arrest and as indicated.
• Ensures effective communication with the healthcare team regarding patient status and any changes observed.
• Assists in maintaining a clean and organized work environment, ensuring equipment is properly sanitized and stored.
• Participates in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices and departmental procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Monitor technician experience or successful completion of AdventHealth Monitor Technician training program or equivalent.

• [Required] Familiar with medical terminology and arrhythmia identification.
• [Required] Ability to quickly learn and successfully complete a competency skill check off list within 90 days of employment.
• [Required] Ability and willingness to work a flexible workweek including weekends, nights, and overtime as required.

• [Required] Demonstrates a specialized level of knowledge and thorough understandings of practices/procedures related to hospital nursing practices, telemetry monitor, and infection control procedures.
• [Required] Basic knowledge of computer use or willingness to learn.
• [Required] Must have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, which addresses the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-appropriate needs of the patient populations served within the department.

Education:

Pay Range: $19.57 - $31.32
