Job summary

Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, AL seeks a full-time Monitor Technician to support the patient care team. The MT will monitor cardiac rhythms on bedside monitors and promptly notify the registered nurse of any changes, while transcribing physician orders as appropriate and adhering to hospital procedures.

The role requires basic EKG interpretation experience and a High School diploma or GED, with BLS certification. This is a day shift position in a hospital setting.

Job description

• Education: High School Graduate or G.E.D. Education in medical terminology preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience in basic EKG interpretations preferred.

• Equipment/Tools/Work Aids: Uses cardiac monitors, telephone, copier, fax and computer
• Specialized Skills: Good communication skills, both verbal and written, time management and customer focused skills. Ability to form effective working relationships with hospital staff.

Under the direction of Unit Director, the Monitor Technician (MT) performs unit functions such as viewing monitor screen for changes in patient cardiac rhythm and notifying RN of any changes noted, transcribing physician orders, etc., appropriate to the position and in compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and protocols.
