Job summary

Baptist Health System is seeking a Monitor Tech to provide telemetry monitoring and data collection in a fast-paced hospital setting in Texas. You will set up and calibrate equipment, monitor patient rhythms, and communicate findings to RNs to ensure patient safety.

The role requires a High School diploma (ECG course preferred) and basic dysrhythmia competency within 30 days of hire; prior monitor tech experience is a plus, with opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Selects, sets-up, calibrates and adjusts monitoring equipment in accordance with physician’s order.
  • Ensures continued proper functioning of equipment; troubleshoots equipment problems identified as necessary.
  • Collects, transmits and documents pertinent patient data to the Registered Nurse with correct interpretations and interval measurements on each patient at required intervals every shift and with any significant rhythm change.
  • Maintains current monitored patients in the Central Surveillance computer system; confers with nursing staff to determine correct validation counts and alarm parameters for patients on computer monitor, as necessary.
  • Maintains small equipment log
  • Reports alarms and changes of rhythm to RN staff; documents on logs and monitors strips per policy
  • Greets, screens and processes incoming unit/dept calls, patients, visitors and messages
  • Transcribes physician orders, enters tests, treatment requests into computer system

Job Summary

The Monitor Tech provides appropriate telemetry monitoring based on patient's age and rhythm. Demonstrates knowledge of arrhythmia identification and analysis. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
