ST. CHARLES HEALTH SYSTEM in Bend, Oregon is seeking a Monitor Technician for the Intermediate Care Unit. This full-time, night shift role monitors ECG rhythms, recognizes arrhythmias, and reports observations to the RN to support safe patient care.

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY

The Intermediate Care Unit is a unit which cares for patients in need of increased cardiac/respiratory monitoring and treatment that medical/surgical units are unable to safely provide due to medication administration, nursing hours and/or cardiac monitor capabilities. Patient care includes but not limited to: Stable mechanical ventilator support; Vasoactive drug infusions; Continuous and/or bolus of antiarrhythmic intravenous medication; Moderate sedation cardioversions; Post cardiac procedures, interventions and/or surgeries; Post-operative arrhythmia management; Post-operative thoracotomy.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Monitor Technician provides patient and family focused care as part of the health care team in accordance with the St. Charles Health System mission, philosophy, policies and procedures. Monitors ECG rhythms and reports observations to the RN. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

• Recognizes and reports observation to RN.


• Records observation and order summary in multiple areas of electronic medical record.


• Follows delegation in the delivery of care.


• Respects privacy, and maintains patients' rights to decide about care.


• Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients and guests.


• Documents with proficiency in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory agencies.


• Demonstrates awareness of and supports St. Charles Health System's departmental and operating unit goals through participation in continuous quality improvement and departmental activities.

EDUCATION

• Required : High school diploma or GED.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION

• Required : AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification.


• Preferred : NTA Telemetry Certification (National Telemetry Association).

EXPERIENCE

• Preferred : Acute health care experience.


• EKG, Monitor tech experience.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.
