Job summary

Saint Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center (SJHMC) in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Monitor Technician to continuously observe and analyze patients’ cardiac rhythms, detect arrhythmias, measure intervals, and report critical findings to nursing staff and physicians.

You will monitor EKG strips, ensure accurate documentation, admit patients to the monitoring system with correct identifiers, and complete yearly competency requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate HS/ GED
• One year of Monitor Technician experience
• Emergency Medical Technician: AZ
• Certified EKG Tech

Responsibilities

• Monitor patients' EKG strips continuously and report changes to nursing staff
• Identify arrhythmias and measure intervals with accuracy
• Maintain proper documentation and ensure correct patient identification during monitoring shifts
• Admit patients to the monitoring system with their last name/first initial, MRN, diagnosis and physician's name

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Monitor Technician, you will be responsible for continuous observation and analysis of patients' cardiac rhythms to detect and report changes. Every day you will meticulously monitor EKG strips, identify arrhythmias, measure intervals, and promptly communicate critical findings to nursing staff and healthcare providers, ensuring accurate documentation.

• Reads basic EKG tracings and identifies potential/lethal arrhythmias: Yearly EKG competency completed 100% on lethal arrhythmias
• Measures out important intervals of the EKG strips: No error noted by EKG certified RNs
• Complete yearly competency with 80% or more accuracy
• Check and maintain accurate settings of "yellow alarms" for each shift. Proper documentation/ approval of parameter changes by Physician order or an ECG certified RN
• Continuously monitors of and identification of dry rhythm changes during 12 hour shift
• Properly admits a patient to the monitoring system including patients' last name/first initial, medical record, diagnosis and physician's name

Pay Range

$18.00 - $23.30 /hour
