Job summary

North-America-Central-School-Bus seeks a Bus Aide to support the driver in safely operating routes and to manage students as identified by the school. This role requires an early start and teamwork with school staff and families.

Responsibilities include following route sheets, assisting with loading/unloading, aiding wheelchair lifts, participating in safety drills, and keeping the bus clean while adhering to safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Assist in loading and unloading of students including wheelchair lifts and assist with loading procedures.
• Cooperate with school personnel, parents and students and participate in safety and training meetings.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections including child checks and safety equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness inside the bus (sweeping, dusting, windows) and ensure safe operation as per contract requirements.
• Attend all safety and training meetings and conduct emergency evacuations if required.

Job Purpose: Assist the driver in the safe operation of the route and manage students as defined/identified by the school.

Major Responsibilities

• Ability to learn and follow a route sheet or electronic routing device
• Is responsible for student management and communicates behavior problems with the driver
• Assists in pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus, including child checks, CSRS and wheelchair lifts
• Assists students in the loading and unloading process including wheelchair lift
• Cooperates and communicates with school personnel, parents and students.
• Attend all safety and training meetings.
• Conducts emergency evacuation from the bus, including exiting from the emergency door.
• Cleans the insides of the bus including sweeping, dusting and cleaning windows.
• Other specialized functions as required by contract.

Minimum Education & Certifications Required

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
