Job summary

Oklo Inc. is seeking a Sodium Test Engineer in Idaho Falls to lead design, fabrication, commissioning, and operation of test platforms for molten sodium systems. You will develop test plans, execute experiments, validate data, and document findings, ensuring safety and compliance with lab standards.

The role emphasizes hands-on lab work, rapid problem solving, and collaboration in a startup-like environment. Travel up to 10% and occasional HQ visits are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, nuclear engineering, materials engineering, or a related technical field.
• Knowledge of molten sodium or other molten alkali metals.
• Experience developing test plans, procedures, operating procedures, engineering calculations, or technical reports.
• Ability to read piping and instrumentation diagrams, process-flow diagrams, equipment drawings, electrical schematics, instrument diagrams, and vendor documentation.
• Ability to lift, move, and position objects weighing up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Test Program Development: Translate data requirements into executable tests and prepare procedures and data-collection methods.
• Test Execution: Lead or support test setup, readiness reviews, equipment checkout, startup, monitoring, and post-test activities.
• Data Validation and Analysis: Review raw data for completeness, assess anomalies, and compare with requirements.
• Technical Reporting: Prepare test reports and engineering memos, documenting methods, deviations, results and conclusions.
• Laboratory Development: Help establish and improve laboratory capabilities, calibration, templates and SOPs.
