Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Molten Salt R&D Engineer to join the Advanced Technology of Molten Salts team at the MFC facility. The role follows a 4x10 schedule with every Friday off, engaging in high-temperature molten salt experiments and technology development.

The candidate will conduct and publish R&D results, contribute to proposals, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a nationally funded laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in ABET-accredited program in chemical engineering, chemistry, nuclear engineering, materials science, or related field.
• MS or PhD with 2 years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on molten salt engineering experience and/or publications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering R&D activities related to molten salt chemistry and chemical conversions.
• Conduct fundamental and applied research in molten salt systems.
• Collect and analyze test results, develop new testing methods and analysis approaches.
• Assimilate and interpret experimental data and publish results.

Education

ABET-accredited MS/PhD in chemical engineering, chemistry, nuclear engineering, materials science, or related field

MS/PhD and 2 years of relevant experience

Hands-on molten salt research experience

Publications in molten salt engineering

Strong verbal and written communication skills
