Job summary

Tempus in Minneapolis is seeking a Molecular Technologist I-III to support pharmacogenomics testing operations. You will work with laboratory staff on sample accessioning, DNA extraction, real-time PCR, data review, and high-complexity testing in compliance with CLIA and internal procedures.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor's in Medical Technology or related biology field, 3+ years of lab experience including molecular testing, and strong attention to detail. Weekend coverage is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, or related biology field.
• Minimum of 3 years laboratory experience, including at least 1 year in molecular testing.
• Working knowledge of DNA isolation, real-time PCR, and SNP genotyping, preferably in pharmacogenomics.
• Experience with lab automation and liquid handling systems; in-house assay development and validation incl. design and troubleshooting.
• Strong attention to detail and effective written/verbal communication skills.

This role is responsible for several phases of the testing workflow, including sample accessioning, DNA extraction, real-time PCR, and data analysis. The Molecular Technologist performs high-complexity clinical molecular testing in accordance with established procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.In addition to routine clinical testing, this position will contribute to assay development and validation, quality assurance and quality control activities, and other laboratory initiatives as assigned by the Director of Laboratory Operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, excellent attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. This role is expected to support operational needs that include **weekend shifts**.**SHIFT - Tuesday-Saturday (9:00am-5:30pm)****Responsibilities**• Perform sample accessioning, DNA extraction, PCR testing, and data review according to standard operating procedures• Conduct high-complexity clinical molecular testing in compliance with applicable regulatory and quality standards• Perform quality control and quality assurance activities, including maintenance of associated records, monthly and annual reviews, and internal audits• Support laboratory development activities, including new method and assay development, workflow and process optimization, analytical validations, and software verification testing• Develop written technical and scientific content for procedures, policies, white papers, and peer-reviewed publications• Assist as needed with non-laboratory functions, including clerical duties, inventory control, client service activities, and other assigned responsibilities• Collaborate effectively with laboratory staff and other departments to support operational excellence• Maintain flexibility to support scheduled weekend coverage as needed**Required Qualifications**• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, or another biological science such as Biology• Minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience, including at least 1 year in a molecular testing laboratory environment• Working knowledge of molecular biology analytical techniques, including DNA isolation, real-time PCR, and SNP genotyping, preferably in the area of pharmacogenomics• Experience with laboratory automation and liquid handling systems, in-house assay development, and validation activities including primer and probe design, assay optimization, and troubleshooting• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow stringent procedures with a high degree of accuracy• Effective written and verbal communication skills• Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment and collaborate across multiple disciplines**Preferred Qualifications**• ASCP certification, or eligibility for certification in a related specialty• Prior experience in a CLIA laboratory environment• **4 years of experience performing high-complexity testing**• Experience working in a small, fast-paced, or start-up environmentMIN: $23-30/hr The expected salary range may vary for other locations.
