Job Description
Molecular Technologist I responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Follow standard operating procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, and maintain accurate documentation for specimen traceability.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within acceptable performance levels.
- Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
- After initial training, perform assigned Lab Assistant Duties and TEM-PCR lab duties accurately and efficiently, including properly handling equipment. These duties may include Sample Sorting, Spin, Decap and Batch, Sample Transfer, Template Addition, Elution Plate Prep, PCR Product Addition, SAPE Addition, Array Wash, Array Detection, and other duties as assigned.
- Stock laboratory with supplies, and clean and decontaminate laboratory instruments and testing areas.
QC Duties
- Adhere to all processes put into place by the Quality Assurance and Safety Officer.
- Promptly report all QC concerns to a Lead or Technical Supervisor.
- Assist in processing QC Samples as needed.
All Areas
- Perform all work duties as assigned by shift on weekly schedules, using any downtime for lab maintenance or other tasks.
- Follow the laboratory's quality control policies and document all activities.
- Identify problems that may affect test performance or reporting, correct them or notify the lead technologist immediately.
- Participate in the laboratory’s quality assurance plan and job-specific training.
- Maintain a clean work environment and wear personal protective equipment as required.
- Observe safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions.
- Perform additional duties as directed by Clinical Lab management.
Qualifications
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, or a related Life Science such as Biology or Chemistry.
- Laboratory certification preferred.
- Must qualify as Medical Laboratory Technologist/Technician per CLIA and State regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proficiency with basic computer programs.
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or sponsorship.

- Flexibility required due to schedule variability caused by specimen delivery delays.
- Weekend and holiday work required.
- Work during adverse weather conditions as safety allows.
- Majority of work involves standing, walking, and hand-eye coordination.
- Basic computer skills necessary.
- Compliance with CLIA or other medical laboratory requirements essential.
Additional Information
Position is full-time, on a 3rd shift schedule (flexible) from Tuesday to Saturday, 3:00 am - 11:00 am, with overtime as needed. Candidates nearby Louisville, KY are encouraged to apply.
