Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Flint, MI seeks a skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform molecular tests for disease diagnosis and assessment in a CAP/CLIA-guided lab. You will implement FISH, PCR, and NGS workflows, ensure QC, and collaborate with clinical leadership to evaluate new assays.

Strong emphasis on accuracy, speed, and adherence to quality standards; full-time schedule 8:00am-4:30pm with on-call as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related field.
• MT/MLS/ MB (ASCP) or equivalent certification.
• Experience in a clinical oncology lab using FISH, PCR and/or NGS.

Responsibilities

• Processes and analyzes samples for molecular detection of disease markers.
• Performs FISH, PCR, and sequencing techniques (including NGS).
• Ensures QC, calibration and maintenance of equipment; documents results and troubleshooting.
• Collaborates with lab leadership to evaluate and implement new molecular assays.
