Job summary

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is seeking a full‑time faculty member to serve as Assistant Director of the Molecular and Genomic Pathology Services (MGPS) Laboratory in the Division of Pathology. The role focuses on overseeing molecular diagnostics, including NGS, real‑time PCR, and other modalities for pediatric oncology and infectious diseases.

The candidate will lead day‑to‑day operations, collaborate with the Medical Laboratory Director on case sign‑out, and develop new tests

Qualifications

• MD or MD/PhD with ABP Molecular Genetic Pathology board certification.
• Interest in molecular pathology of hematologic malignancies, solid tumors, and viral infections.
• Ability to function independently and as a member of a collaborative team.
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
• Bioinformatics/clinical informatics experience is desirable but not necessary.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the MGPS laboratory.
• Collaborate with the Medical Laboratory Director to review, interpret, and sign out oncology cases.
• Ensure adherence to technical procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide consultation on test utilization and interpretation for clinicians.
• Develop and validate new molecular tests for clinical use.
• Oversee compliance with regulatory agencies and quality systems.
• Contribute to teaching of fellows and participate in research projects.
• Review laboratory data and reports and support collaborative research within the division.
