Molecular Laboratory Technologist (Levels I & II)
Location: Nashville, TN
Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday; Shifts Vary (See Details Below)
Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire

Overview:
Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented Molecular Laboratory Technologists (Level I or II) to join our client’s dynamic oncology-focused molecular diagnostics team in Nashville, TN. In this role, you will perform high-complexity molecular testing in compliance with CLIA, CAP, Tennessee Medical Laboratory Board, and internal standards. You will work with cutting-edge technology including PCR, digital PCR, and Next Sequencing (NGS) to deliver accurate and timely results supporting patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform clinical diagnostic testing following SOPs for specimen handling, analysis, and reporting.
  2. Operate, maintain, and calibrate molecular laboratory equipment according to schedules.
  3. Maintain an orderly, clean, and safe work environment in compliance with lab safety protocols.
  4. Ensure proper documentation of test results and quality control data, adhering to GDP and GLP standards.
  5. Participate in quality assurance activities such as proficiency testing, instrument/method comparisons, and reagent qualifications.
  6. Troubleshoot assay or equipment issues and escalate complex problems to lab leadership.
  7. Assist with or lead inventory management of lab reagents and consumables.
  8. Contribute to the development and revision of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  9. Support training and onboarding of new lab personnel (Level II only).
  10. Participate in CLIA validation studies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  11. Contribute to project work as assigned, with increasing independence at Level II.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science (required).
  • Active Tennessee Medical Laboratory Technologist License (Generalist or Special Analyst – Molecular Diagnostics).
  • Level I: Entry-level to 1+ year of experience in a clinical lab performing high-complexity molecular testing.
  • Level II: 2+ years of clinical lab experience with high-complexity molecular assays.
  • Strong manual pipetting skills and understanding of aseptic technique.
  • Familiarity with molecular techniques such as Real-Time PCR, Digital PCR, and NGS.
  • Experience with LIMS and EDMS systems.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
  • Flexibility to work alternate shifts and holidays per the Clinical Operations Schedule Policy.
  • Work Schedule:

    • Level I: Tuesday–Saturday; 6:00 AM–2:30 PM (Training: M–F, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM)
    • Level II: Tuesday–Saturday; 2:00 PM–10:30 PM (Training: M–F, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM)
    • Occasional shift adjustments may be required to support team coverage.
