Molecular Genetics Lab Assistant (Day shift)

Details

• Pay Rate: $24/hour
• Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday, 11:00am - 7:30pm

Purpose of the Role

The Lab Assistant supports laboratory operations including preparing reagents, processing specimens, maintaining equipment, recording data, and assisting with housekeeping tasks.

Responsibilities

• Collect and sort specimens for testing
• Build assay batches in LIMS
• Perform DNA extraction, quantification, and quality control
• Manage inventory and supplies
• Follow SOPs for reagent preparation and quality control
• Perform preventive maintenance and update logs
• Assist in resolving sample issues
• Manage hazardous waste disposal
• Monitor gas levels and order supplies
• Cross-train in multiple lab specialties
• Support Molecular Genetics Technicians and perform additional duties as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; lab experience or science degree preferred
• Laboratory skills and knowledge of lab equipment helpful
• Attention to detail, organization, and ability to multitask
• Strong communication skills and positive attitude
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Physical & Work Environment

• Stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs., perform fine motor tasks
• Work in a potentially biohazardous laboratory setting
• Follow safety protocols and work under supervision
