Job summary

The Yang Lab at the University of Chicago is seeking a self-motivated individual with a strong background in molecular biology to support research on somatic alterations in cancer. The position is expected to last for one year.

Responsibilities include performing basic laboratory techniques, collecting data, and assisting in data analysis and the preparation of reports and manuscripts under close supervision. Compliance with institutional, state, and federal policies is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a four-year degree).
  • Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
  • BS in biology or related field.
  • Familiar with molecular biology and cell biology assays, such as cell culture, DNA/RNA/protein purification, PCR, western blot, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • This job provides technical and administrative support in a laboratory environment performing basic laboratory techniques, research and analysis under direction.
  • Provides routine or standardized laboratory duties by collecting data in support of research projects under direct supervision.
  • Collects and enters data. Assists in analysis of data and with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
  • Complies with institution, state and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives, and mandates.
  • Performs other related work as needed.
