Woodstream Corporation is seeking a Mold Tool Maintenance Technician for 3rd shift in Knoxville, TN. The role focuses on tooling maintenance, mold repair, preventive maintenance, and related activities to support production.

Scope & Basic Function

The Mold Tool Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing tooling maintenance, mold repair, preventive maintenance, and other related duties. These duties include disassemble, clean and re-assemble complex molds, convert and change over mold components to support production, perform preventive maintenance, conduct repairs and trouble shoot as needed. Must be self-motivated with a strong aptitude to work independently on a daily basis.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Maintain all mold and mold ancillary systems in good working order
• Maintain control and storage of all molds and mold components
• Perform mold core/cavity changeovers
• Perform minor repairs using tool room equipment (mills, lathes, and surface grinders).
• Requisition mold spare parts and maintain spare parts inventory.Requisition major mold repairs and maintenance for offsite work.
• Prepare molds for production as per schedule.
• Utilize hot runner systems, hydraulic cores, and blueprint reading
• Conduct preventive maintenance of injection molds
• Provide input to Production and QC manager regarding mold status report.
• Operate overhead crane safely to handle mold transport
• Operate tool room hoists safely for mold assemble and disassembly.
• Maintain tool room equipment and tool room housekeeping.

Education/Experience/Other Skills

• High school graduate or higher
• Must have completed basic mold making course training or on the Job mold maintenance training.
• Good knowledge of plastic injection mold design, repair and preventive maintenance of molds

Working knowledge of mold systems including

• Hot runner, and HR controller
• Cooling design and function,
• Hydraulic Core design and function
• Pneumatic design and function
• Blueprint reading
• Ancillary equipment controls and sensors
• Good Knowledge of machine tool operation (tool shop) including
• Lathe work
• Mill work
• Surface grinder operation
• Basic welding
• Other basic machine tools
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills
• Computer skills, MS office
• Strong work ethic.
• Good interpersonal skills.
