The Molding Technician is responsible for equipment and process setup, changeovers, troubleshooting, maintenance, and basic repairs of injection molding machines and associated equipment.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing safety checks and mold changeovers.
- Conducting cycle checks and adjusting processes to meet business needs.
- Making process adjustments to address non-conforming parts.
- Performing mold start-up and QC inspections, setting up gauges.
- Cleaning molds and completing preventive maintenance.
- Using MVP for PM tasks.
- Assisting operators as needed.
- Processing material changeovers, including filling barrels and ensuring traceability.
- Operating the Shibaura Injectvisor controller for program loading and adjustments.
- Performing troubleshooting for machine alarms.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards, including environmental, health, and safety initiatives.
- Participating in continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications:
- Strong mechanical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of computers and controls.
- Ability to learn new technologies and engage in continuous improvement.
Minimum Education & Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High School Diploma or GED; technical schooling desirable.
- Up to 3 years manufacturing experience; experience with plastic injection molding preferred.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to manufacturing equipment, chemicals, and biohazards.
- Work may range from clean room to noisy production areas.
- Physical demands include lifting up to 35 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 80 lbs, standing, walking, and other physical activities.
- Travel less than 5% expected.
