Job summary

Summit Polymers, Inc. in Kalamazoo, Michigan, is seeking a Supervisor, Manufacturing (Molding) to lead a shift in injection molding and assembly of plastic parts, ensuring adherence to policies and safety standards.

You will train staff, monitor performance, drive quality and productivity, prepare reports, and collaborate with other departments to meet quality requirements.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience in a leadership role.
• Ability to gather and analyze information and make decisions from a limited number of choices; ability to train others for routine positions.
• A minimum score of 50 on the Wonderlic Select Assessment (Traditional score of 20 on the Cognitive portion).

Responsibilities

• Supervises and directs injection molding activities within the molding area
• Instructs and trains new and promoted employees; monitors, evaluates, and corrects performance and behavior
• Ensures proper training of all hourly employees in safe operation of machines
• Investigates and implements disciplinary actions in line with corporate personnel policies
• Audits and records quality and productivity of subordinates
• Ensures compliance with all applicable departmental and corporate policies and procedures; enforces all applicable rules and regulations
• Plans, coordinates, and regulates workflow throughout the department in accordance with SLMS
• Coordinates, assists, and reviews problems and changes with supervisors on other shifts; collaborates with other departments to assure quality, productivity, and inspection procedures meet company requirements
• Coordinates and participates in company programs such as communications, job training, vacation scheduling, etc.
• Prepares reports, memos, schedules, and other supporting documentation as necessary
• Ensures that all daily process checks are completed accurately
• Complies with environmental health and safety system
• Uses Root Cause problem solving techniques to resolve quality problems and prevent repeat issues
• Completes housekeeping checklists
• Performs other duties as required or directed

This supervisory and technical role involves advanced expertise in supervising and administering a departmental shift of injection molding and assembly of component plastic parts. Responsibilities include enforcing company policies outlined in the Team Member Handbook.
