Job summary

Summit Polymers is seeking a Supervisor, Manufacturing (Molding) to lead injection molding operations and oversee a team of hourly associates. The role focuses on supervising, training, quality assurance, and ensuring safety and policy compliance in a fast-paced molding environment.

The position reports to the Department Manager, Molding and requires leadership experience in a manufacturing setting, with attention to process improvement and teamwork across shifts and departments.

Responsibilities

• Supervises injection molding activities in the molding area.
• Directs, trains, and evaluates hourly employees' performance.
• Ensures proper training in safe operation of machines and processes.
• Investigates and implements disciplinary actions per policies.
• Audits quality and productivity of subordinates.
• Ensures compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
• Plans and regulates workflow in the department.
• Coordinates with other shifts and departments to meet quality and productivity targets.
• Participates in company programs and prepares reports and documentation.
• Completes daily process checks and maintains housekeeping.

Job Description

Job Title: Supervisor, Manufacturing (Molding)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports to: Department Manager, Molding

Summary

This is responsible supervisory and technical work involving advanced technical expertise in supervision, administration of a departmental shift injection molding and assembly of component plastic parts. Responsible to comply, enforce and uphold company policies as outlined in the Team Member Handbook.

Responsibilities And Duties

• Supervises and directs injection molding activities of classifications assigned to the molding area
• Directs, instructs, and trains new and promoted employees, and monitors, evaluates, and corrects employee performance and behavior as necessary.
• Assures proper training of all hourly employees assigned to decoration activities, including proper training in safe operation of machines
• Investigates and implements disciplinary actions in accord with corporate personnel policies and procedures
• Audits and records quality and productivity of subordinates
• Assures compliance with all applicable departmental and corporate policies and procedures. Enforces all applicable rules and regulations of the company
• Plans, coordinates, and regulates work flow throughout department in accordance with SLMS
• Coordinates, assists, and reviews problems and changes with supervisors on other shifts, and collaborates with other departments as necessary to assure quality, productivity, and inspection procedures meet departmental, shift, and company requirements
• Coordinates and participates in company programs such as communications, job training, vacation scheduling, etc.
• Prepares reports, memos, schedules, and other supporting documentation as necessary
• Insures that all daily process checks are completed accurately
• Complies with environmental health and safety system.
• Use Root Cause problem solving techniques to bring resolution to quality problems and prevent repeat quality issues.
• Completes housekeeping checklists
• Performs other duties as required or directed

Education And Experience

One year of related experience in a leadership role.

Skills And Abilities

Possesses the ability to gather and analyze information and make decisions from a limited number of choices. Possesses the ability to train others for routine positions.

• A minimum score of 50 on the Wonderlic Select Assessment (20 on the Cognitive portion).

Travel Requirements

This position typically does not require any travel.
