Job summary

Flex is seeking a Molding Process Technician – Day Shift in Buffalo Grove, IL. You will set up, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot injection molding machines and related equipment to ensure quality parts and regulatory compliance.

The role requires 1–3 years of experience with hydraulic and electrical molding machines, reading blueprints, and a strong mechanical skillset. Day shift is 6am-6pm with rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• Requires HS diploma or GED; an associate degree is preferred.
• Experience with injection molding/mold setup is required or preferred.
• Certifications like RJG Master Molder I/II and forklift cert are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up molds, machines, and auxiliary equipment for production runs.
• Adjust machine parameters to maintain part quality and meet specs.
• Start up and shut down molding machines per SOP.
• Diagnose and resolve molding issues such as flash, short shots, or warping; perform routine maintenance.
• Inspect parts for defects and ensure compliance with quality standards; maintain process documentation.
• Monitor mold performance and suggest improvements to reduce cycle time and scrap.
• Follow safety protocols and comply with ISO-13485, FDA CFR/GMP and other regulatory requirements.

The Molding Process Technician – Day Shift located in Buffalo Grove, IL is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting injection molding machines and associated equipment. This role ensures optimal machine performance, part quality, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
Shift Schedule: 6am-6pm (Rotating Shit)
Key Responsibilities:

• Machine Setup & Operation
  • Set up molds, machines, and auxiliary equipment for production runs.
  • Adjust machine parameters to maintain part quality and meet specifications.
  • Start up and shut down molding machines per standard operating procedures.
• Troubleshooting & Maintenance
  • Diagnose and resolve molding issues such as flash, short shots, or warping.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on molds and machines.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams for complex repairs.
• Quality Assurance
  • Inspect molded parts for defects and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Maintain documentation for process control, lot traceability, and corrective actions.
  • Support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for quality issues.
• Process Optimization
  • Monitor mold performance and suggest improvements to reduce cycle time and scrap.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing efforts.
• Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all safety protocols and ensure equipment is operated safely.
  • Comply with ISO-13485, FDA CFR/GMP, and other regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s Degree in Plastics Technology, Manufacturing, or related field preferred.
• Experience:
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in injection molding or mold setup.
  • Experience with hydraulic and electric injection molding machines.
• Certifications (Preferred):
  • RJG Master Molder I or II
  • Forklift Certification

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Familiarity with CNC machines and robotic automation.
• Knowledge of plastic materials, mold design, and processing parameters.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
