Job summary

HI-LEX North America is seeking an experienced Mold Operator to set up and run horizontal and vertical molding machines in a safe, efficient manner. You will interpret formulas, charts, drawings, and equipment manuals to produce production-quality parts that meet specifications.

Responsibilities include 1st piece audits, changeovers with support from a supervisor and A/B operators, maintaining 5S standards, data collection, and basic machine maintenance.

Qualifications

• 3 years minimum previous molding experience.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.

• Completes mold changeovers with supervisor/assistants; ensures 5S in the machine area.

• Monitors processes and data accuracy on respective shift.

Job description

Prepares and sets up all molding machines (horizontal and vertical) to operate in a safe manner, production quality parts to production requirements. Works from formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, wiring diagrams, machine manuals, computer devices and instructions. Responsible for all press changeovers and minor maintenance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Receives instructions from supervisor and work specifications and transmits them to associates.
• Follow safety rules and keeps work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Controls the molding operations to produce high quality parts, improving productivity and introducing new parts.
• Changes molds sometimes with the assistance of "A" operator. Determines disposition of mold after removal (tool room repair preventative maintenance or storage). 5S the machine after the changeover.
• Audits 1st piece approval for each job and correct material being used, initial the material tag.
• Collects and records required data and submit on timely basis.
• Keeps department in good 5S order.
• Maintains "FIFO" for raw materials.
• Responsible for monitoring processes and data accuracy on their respective shift.
• Performs TPM on molding machines by filling and checking machine oil levels, checking safety bars and filling out work orders for machines and auxiliary equipment that is down. Tags mold with proper label and stores in proper rack.
• Assists in training all "A" and "B" operators.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Performs all basic maintenance on equipment.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

• For vacations or absenteeism of operator "S" on different shifts.
• Uses hand tools, crane, grinders, calipers and gages.
• May use power industrial trucks, and hand pallet jack.
• Occasionally interacts with suppliers on potential quality problems.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED TRAINING, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE:

• 3 years minimum previous molding experience.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Factory environment with noise from manufacturing equipment. Exposure to dangerous equipment.
• Process serious injury due to carelessness around equipment.
• Sometimes lifts, carries or moves objects up to 50 pounds.
