Job summary

BD, a leading global medical technology company, is hiring a Quality Inspector for on-site work at our USA location (Columbus area). Responsibilities include dimensional and functional testing, inspecting molded products, and ensuring accurate labeling and documentation.

You will report defects, maintain MES-based production records, and support cross-training. BD emphasizes collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma/GED preferred.
  • 2 years manufacturing experience required.
  • Strong communication and math skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional, functional testing and visual quality checks per procedures.
  • Communicate non-conforming material (defects) to quality group and management.
  • Complete paperwork/documentation for products being molded.
  • Pack finished products into cartons and label contents.
  • Maintain open communication to resolve problems and changes promptly.
  • Perform line clearances of equipment before/after production runs.
  • Ensure labels are correct per work order information.
  • Record defects, sampling results, and reasons for stoppages.
  • Assist with cross-training and on-the-job training as needed.
  • Transport materials to support production and maintain inventory control.
  • Contain rejected materials and manage storage of raw materials at workstations.
  • Perform preventative maintenance duties as required.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement teams (5S, blitzes, Shift Start-up).
  • Maintain clean and organized workplace (5S) and proper scrap containment.

Job Description

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for performing dimensional, functional testing, and visual quality checks according to appropriate procedures.

  • Communicating non-conforming material (defects) to the quality group and management

  • Accurately completing all required paperwork/documentation for the products being molded.

  • Pack finished products into cartons and bag and affix content labels.

  • Maintain an open line of communication to ensure all problems and changes are communicated and resolved in a timely manner.

  • Perform line clearances of effected equipment at end of and prior to production run.

  • Ensure all labels are correct according to the work order information.

  • Record problems which occurred during production, such as defects found, statistical sampling results, reason for stoppages.

  • As requested, assist other team members in cross-training and conduct on the job training of other associates.

  • Transport all in-process and finished materials by hand, tallyho, forklift or other available means necessary to maintain production.

  • Must be able to cycle count inventory and help investigate discrepancies.

  • Responsible for the containment of rejected raw materials, semi-finished goods and finished goods.

  • Will be responsible for organization, retrieval from warehouse stock locations and proper storage of raw materials at workstations.

  • Perform preventative maintenance duties associated with job functions.

  • Actively participate in the Continuous Improvement teams and activities, including 5S, blitzes and Shift Start-up

  • Continuously improving through the KAS and Safety program, meeting department goals.

  • Working to maintain a clean & organized workplace environment (5s) to include the disposal of scrap totes and containment of material around ancillary equipment.

  • Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.

DELIVERABLES:

  • Transport and containment of all materials needed to support production

  • Immediate work area to be kept clean.

  • Quality products produced per manufacturing documents.

  • Accurate documentation.

  • Raw and finished material transactions with proper documentation of required data to guide logistics, quality, production and finance systems.

  • Compliance with production reporting guidelines utilizing MES.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED- Preferred

Minimum Experience:

  • 2 years manufacturing experience required in lieu of HS Diploma/GED

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities (KSA’s):

  • Computer Skills: Basic or Simple

  • Organizational Skills: Proficient

  • Written and Oral communication Skills: Proficient

  • Math Skills: Proficient
