Job summary

Flex-N-Gate in Grand Rapids, MI is hiring a Tool Room Apprentice to participate in on-the-job training and technical instruction, developing skills to become a qualified Tool Room Technician. You will assist experienced personnel with inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plastic injection molds and related tooling.

You will learn to safely operate machine shop equipment, read drawings, identify issues, and perform mold maintenance under supervision, supporting production

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; motivated to learn and work safely.
• Experience with machine shop equipment and reading drawings is helpful.
• Willingness to take related classes and develop skills in tooling maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plastic injection molds.
• Learn to identify mold damage, wear, defects, and conditions affecting production or quality.
• Develop proficiency in operating machine shop equipment and reading blueprints and schematics.
• Assist with grinding, machining, fitting, and polishing mold components under supervision.
• Learn to read technical documentation to support tooling repairs and replacement components.
• Maintain accurate records of tooling repairs and maintenance and follow safety procedures.
