Job summary

Randstad is partnering with a fast-growing manufacturing company in Lincolnton, NC to hire a SMED Technician. You will install and remove injection molds safely, communicate mold changes to operators and engineers, and ensure proper connections.

The role emphasizes hands-on setup, troubleshooting of molding equipment, and training teammates on safety and procedures. A strong mechanical background with willingness to learn is valued, with a shift that supports day/night coverage.

Qualifications

• + Minimum of 2 years of injection molding experience.
• + Experienced in machine setup and mold setting.
• + Must complete LOTO, crane, forklift, and fall protection training.

Responsibilities

• Install and remove injection molds in a safe and efficient manner.
• Communicate the status of mold changes to operators, supervisors, technicians, and process engineers.
• Execute mold installs consisting of clamping the mold in the press, proper mold alignment, and making water, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical connections.
• Perform mold pulls by disconnecting all connections, placing components in mold-specific boxes, transporting molds to the toolroom or stored area, and preparing the machine for incoming molds.
• Troubleshoot any issues with injection molding machines, molds, and auxiliary equipment.
• Maintain organization of mold boxes and components, and create new ones for new molds.
• Train other Setup team members on safety, operational procedures, and startups.
• Perform daily housekeeping to provide a clean and safe work environment.

What You Need for this Role:

• A strong mechanical aptitude, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.
• A minimum of 1 year of injection molding experience is preferred, but the company will train the right candidate who possesses a mechanical background.
• Working knowledge of SQF and GMP procedures.
• Must complete LOTO, Crane, Forklift, and Fall protection training (crane and forklift experience preferred).
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to work overtime, including weekends, as directed.
• Physical ability to walk and climb on machines as necessary, and the ability to lift and carry 50lbs.
