Job summary

NexTech in Sterling Heights, MI is seeking a Mold Setter to support high-tonnage plastic injection molding operations. The role involves scheduled mold changes, precise setup, and partnering with maintenance to ensure quality parts.

You will operate presses, set tooling, manage mold storage, and uphold safety and housekeeping standards while collaborating with a dedicated team and learning new processes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years of mold setting experience in plastic injection molding.
• Reliable transportation and good attendance record.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Strong communication and ability to work independently.
• Team player willing to learn new processes.
• Ability to operate powered lift equipment (forklift, hoists, cranes).

Responsibilities

• Perform mold changes on 500–3300-ton presses per schedule.
• Ensure proper mold setup including watering, knockout, hot runner setup, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Set press parameters according to process verification sheet.
• Repair fluid or air leaks in molding system.
• Load/unload mold carrying trucks and manage mold storage area.
• Complete paperwork per process and follow safety procedures.
• Participate in WCM project assignments.
• Maintain housekeeping and mold-setting supplies area.

Job description

• Performing mold/die changes as scheduled in 500 – 3300-ton presses
• Responsible for all mold changes done per the production schedule and all emergency mold changes.
• Responsible for the proper set-up of all molds and related functions such as watering of the mold, knockout, hot runner set-up, hydraulics, pneumatics etc.
• Set parameters of the molding press to the process verification sheet if applicable.
• Repair any fluid or air leaks relating to the mold.
• Responsible for the pulling and resetting of all mold halves, specifically for the purpose of mold repair.
• Participate and complete WCM Project assignments.
• Responsible for the loading and unloading of all mold carrying trucks.
• Responsible for the installation and removal of all auxiliary equipment from the molding floor.
• Maintain the orderly appearance of the mold storage area.
• Responsible for the orderly appearance of all mold-setting supplies including the removal of all supplies from the molding machine and immediate area.
• Ensure all paperwork is completed and submitted in accordance to the process
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures (i.e., quality policy manual, associate handbook, Level II procedures, etc.).
• Comply with of all internal and OSHA required safety procedures.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping.

Requirements:

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED
• 1-2 years of mold setting experience in Plastic Injection Molding
• Must have reliable transportation and an acceptable attendance record
• Possess good mechanical aptitude
• Ability to communicate effectively and work independently
• Must be a dedicated team player and willing to learn new processes
