Mold Repairer

DMNC Maintenance - Jig Shop, Dept. 3172

Core Hours: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM

** A RESUME IS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.

Position Summary: This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all production molds with the use of hand tools, power tools and testing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Using a work order system and/or supervisory directive, will examine molds, identify reason for malfunction and repair using hand tools, testing equipment and/or power tools. If applicable, may be required to contact vendor for assistance. Will have the responsibility to prioritize jobs when an emergency situation arises.
  • When repairs cannot be completed in-house, will determine requirements and submit proposal to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Ensures all safety procedures are followed.
  • When parts are required for repair and are not located in-house, will initiate purchase order process.
  • Inspects completed repairs ensuring equipment/machinery is functional and that all safety features are in-place and safety design was followed.
  • Completes work orders by entering the root cause of the problem, method in which it was fixed, parts used and length of time for resolution.
  • Will assist in identifying the necessary preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment and submit proposal to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Designs and creates simple jigs and machinery needed for repair or as part of an improvement process.
  • May be required to write a Corrective Action Report and take appropriate action.
  • Writes machine improvement reports for new equipment.
  • When necessary, will design hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems for new equipment or will modify existing equipment.
  • Analyzes improvement ideas by investigating the feasibility, cost and schedule for implementation.
  • Will be required to work some overtime.
  • Ensure all work areas meet 5S standards.
  • May be required to perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Quality / Environmental Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Follows all procedures and work instructions and makes recommendations to improve the process. Notifies Leader immediately upon detecting any non-conformances.
    • Records all non-conformances to ensure corrective action and preventative measures are taken and assist in the problem solving process.
    • Communicates and practices DMNC’s Quality and Environmental Management Systems. Takes an active role in achieving and maintaining IATF-16949 and ISO-14001.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Education Required

  • Associate’s degree or high school diploma or equivalent and 2-3 years of related experience.
  • Specialized training in area of tool and die repair or equivalent job training.
  • Knowledge of methods and techniques used in electrical and mechanical maintenance.
  • Knowledge of CNC mill and CNC lathes, aluminum welding, surface grinding, 2D blueprint reading and measuring equipment tools and techniques.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • PLC capability is a plus.
