Job summary

IPL Schoeller Goodyear seeks an experienced Tooling Technician to maintain and repair plastic injection molds and tooling to support production schedules. You will perform preventative maintenance, read drawings and schematics, and execute mold repairs with precision.

You will troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, follow Lock Out/Tag Out procedures, and keep accurate records of repairs and parts usage for a safe, efficient tooling shop.

Qualifications

• Completed technical degree in mold making or machining.
• Four years of servicing and repairing tooling/molds.
• Experience with tooling repair in a manufacturing environment.
• SolidWorks experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of plastics processing.
• Basic math, electrical and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain plastic injection molds and equipment in optimal running condition.
• Perform preventative mold maintenance and mold repair activities.
• Accurately estimate mold repair times.
• Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic repairs and troubleshooting related to tooling/molds.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Execute machining requests to drawings, sketches or part samples.
• Operate all tool room machinery and complete final form, fit and function of mold repairs.

The role

The Team in Goodyear Arizona is seeking an experienced Machinist to assist in performing regular maintenance activities on production molds as directed to support the operations and achieves the production schedule.

As a Tooling Technician At IPL Schoeller You Will

• Maintain plastic injection molds and equipment are in optimal running condition
• Perform preventative mold maintenance and mold repair activities
• Accurately estimate mold repair times
• Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic repairs and troubleshooting related to tooling/molds
• Work independently with strong technical knowledge and good communication skills
• Read and interpret detailed technical drawings and schematics
• Execute machining requests to drawing, sketches or part samples, when instructed
• Operate all tool room machinery and equipment and complete final form, fit and function of mold repairs
• Will assist with mold setups, perform mold removals, reinstall and prepare molds for production startup
• Identify molding defects on production parts and recommend solutions
• Assure proper inventory levels of required replacement parts for all tools
• Following all Lock Out/Tag Out rules and work instructions
• Participate in corresponding root cause analysis, corrective actions and team problem solving activities
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping in all your assigned work areas.
• Responsible for maintaining accurate and timely records of all tool repairs and changes.
• Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety procedures.
• Read, use and interpret measuring devices, gauges and inspection tools.
• Keep own and adjacent work area clean.
• Perform other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned

What You Will Bring To The Role

• A Completed Technical Degree Program in either Tool & Die Mold Making, Mechanical Technology or Machining Technology
• Four years of servicing & repairing of tooling/plastic injection molds.
• Experienced in tooling repair and providing machining support in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Solid Works preferred
• Basic knowledge of the plastic processing and troubleshooting of thermoplastic molds.
• Basic math skills.
• Basic electrical skills
• Basic computer skills.
• Must be mechanically inclined and can use basic hand tools.
• Possess good hand-eye coordination with manual dexterity.
• Repair and perform all necessary preventive maintenance on plastic injection molds and molding related auxiliary equipment related to the mold setup
• Understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics.
