Reports to: Vice President Manufacturing
The Mold Process Technician ensures efficient, high-quality production of polymer optics by setting up, optimizing, and troubleshooting plastic injection molding processes. They run and maintain molding machines, adjust parameters to reduce cycle time and scrap, collaborate with QA and Engineering on tooling issues, and document settings—all while upholding safety and cleanliness standards.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Set up, start, and shut down injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
- Optimize process parameters for new and existing molds to ensure cycle time, part quality, and scrap reduction.
- Perform mold changes and machine setups in a timely and efficient manner.
- Monitor production runs, identify process issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Aid in process development and process documentation of new tools.
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance and Engineering teams to resolve product or tooling issues and to ensure production is within specification.
- Maintain accurate documentation of machine settings, process changes, and maintenance activities.
- Train operators on basic troubleshooting and machine operation as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Works with Maintenance Technician to schedule Preventive maintenance on molding equipment.

Job Qualifications:- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certificate or associate degree in plastics, manufacturing, or related field is preferred.
- Minimum 2–4 years of hands-on experience in injection molding operations.
- Solid understanding of injection molding machines, tooling, robotics, and auxiliary equipment.
- Knowledge of materials such as thermoplastics, engineered resins, and additives.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and process documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts and overtime as needed.
Physical requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Exposure to manufacturing environment including noise, heat, and moving machinery.
