Biomerics is seeking a Mold Press Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift to lead preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair injection molding presses and related equipment. You will ensure safe, reliable, and production-ready operation while minimizing downtime, working with Molding, Engineering, Quality, and Facilities teams.

Qualifications

  • Experience maintaining injection molding presses (Sodick or similar).
  • Experience with hydraulic and/or electric injection molding machines.
  • Experience with PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and industrial automation.
  • Experience with CMMS/Maintenance Management systems.
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485, GMP, and Good Documentation Practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and document injection molding processes for new molds and products.
  • Establish stable, repeatable processes that meet quality requirements and support efficient production.
  • Apply Scientific Injection Molding principles to develop and optimize processing parameters.
  • Conduct molding trials and evaluate process performance, identifying opportunities to improve quality, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Document process parameters, setup requirements, and best practices to support successful production launches and future repeatability.
  • Partner with Tooling and Mold Design teams to identify mold-related issues and recommend changes that improve part quality and process performance.
  • Troubleshoot molding, tooling, and processing issues and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and mold documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement activities within the Molding department.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Production, and other cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and meet production objectives.

Role Summary

The Mold Press Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift is responsible for the preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and reliable operation of injection molding presses and associated production equipment. This role supports the Molding organization by ensuring equipment is maintained in a safe, reliable, and production-ready condition while minimizing unplanned downtime. The technician will perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance, diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control-system issues, and complete repairs in a timely manner. This position works closely with Molding Production, Engineering, Quality, and Facilities to support production requirements, equipment improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position is focused primarily on molding press and equipment maintenance, rather than maintenance and repair of the injection mold tooling itself.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, condition, optimize, and document injection molding processes for new molds and products.
  • Establish stable, repeatable processes that meet quality requirements and support efficient production.
  • Apply Scientific Injection Molding principles to develop and optimize processing parameters.
  • Conduct molding trials and evaluate process performance, identifying opportunities to improve quality, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Document process parameters, setup requirements, and best practices to support successful production launches and future repeatability.
  • Partner with Tooling and Mold Design teams to identify mold-related issues and recommend changes that improve part quality and process performance.
  • Troubleshoot molding, tooling, and processing issues and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and mold documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement activities within the Molding department.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Production, and other cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and meet production objectives.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to Production personnel as needed.
  • Support overall Molding department operations and, when needed, provide temporary coverage for Supervisors, Group Leaders, or Production personnel.

Requirements

  • Experience maintaining injection molding presses, preferably Sodick or similar equipment.
  • Experience with hydraulic and/or electric injection molding machines.
  • Experience with machine controls, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and industrial automation.
  • Experience with temperature controllers, hot runners, chillers, dryers, robots, and auxiliary molding equipment.
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably medical device manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485, GMP, and Good Documentation Practices.
  • Experience with CMMS/Maintenance Management systems.
  • Electrical, mechanical, industrial maintenance, or controls certification.
  • Experience with root-cause analysis and reliability-centered maintenance practices.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and work in awkward positions for extended periods.
  • Ability to routinely lift and carry materials and equipment components weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work around operating manufacturing equipment, including elevated temperatures, hydraulic systems, electrical equipment, and moving machinery.
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, lubricants, and industrial equipment.
  • This position may require flexibility to support production operations, including overtime, weekends, or off-shift support as needed.
  • Participation in an on-call or emergency maintenance rotation may be required based on site needs.
