Job summary

Hoffer Plastics Corporation is hiring a Mold Maker / Mold Repair technician for 1st shift (7:00am–4:00pm). The role focuses on mold repair, modifications, and maintaining high quality production in a plastic injection environment.

Starting pay is $30.00–$38.00/hr with a $2,500 sign-on bonus. Requires 5+ years of experience and strong attention to precision; benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) match. Come grow with an established U.S. manufacturer.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in mold making or repair.
• Extensive knowledge of mold function and repair in plastic injection.
• Ability to calibrate tool room tools to tight tolerances.
• Capable of EDM, jig grinding, lathes, mills and grinders.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on plastic injection molds.
• Modify and repair molds, jigs and fixtures with close tolerances.
• Diagnose problems and determine corrective actions on injection molds.
• Grind complex forms to very close tolerances.
• Complete jobs quickly and with minimal errors.
• Maintain a safe, neat and orderly work area.
• Accurately document work performed.

• Sign-on bonus available to candidates who apply directly to Hoffer Plastics. Paid in two installments: $1,500 after 90 days and $1,000 after 6 months of continuous employment. Must be actively employed on each payout date.

The Role

As a Mold Maker / Mold Repair technician, you'll perform mold repair and modifications as directed to meet customer specifications, keeping our production running at the highest level of quality.

What You'll Do

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on plastic injection molds.
• Modify and repair molds, jigs and fixtures where accuracy requires extremely close tolerances.
• Diagnose problems and determine corrective actions on injection molds.
• Grind complex forms to very close tolerances.
• Complete jobs quickly and efficiently with minimal errors.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent required; TMA certificate preferred.
• 5+ years of experience required.
• Extensive knowledge of mold function and repair in a plastic injection environment.
• Demonstrated competency calibrating tool room tools.
• Ability to perform multiple functions such as EDM, jig grinding, lathes, mills, grinders, etc.
• Good communication skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Hot runner function and repair knowledge a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Continually walk / stand entire shift.
• Frequently bend at waist, twist and turn.
• Sometimes kneel / crouch and climb.

• Rarely lift above shoulders up to 10 lbs.
• Frequently push and pull up to 75 lbs. and over.
• Continually perform manipulative finger / wrist / hand movement.
• Occasional keyboarding.
• Continual exposure to oil.
• Infrequent exposure to dust, fumes and odors.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
• Must wear appropriate PPE.
