Job summary

Hoffer Plastics in South Elgin, IL is seeking a 3rd Shift Mold Technician-D to set up molds, adjust process parameters, and run molding operations to meet production requirements.

Starting pay ranges from $22 to $30 per hour with an 8% shift premium, plus a $1,000 sign-on bonus. Full training, extensive benefits, and opportunities for advancement are offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum education of High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
• Must progress through leveled Moulding Technician training curriculum.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and math proficiency.
• Computer proficient.

Responsibilities

• Perform mold set up, and color changes to meet production demands.
• Set moulding process parameters with the assistance of a foreman, supervisor, A or B level moulding technician.
• Monitor production for accuracy and efficiency and work with quality inspectors to identify defects.
• Perform material handler duties as assigned.
• Toubleshoot process, machine, and auxiliary equipment problems and make necessary changes to ensure quality and reduce downtime.
• Learn new technology as it is brought to manufacturing and identify productivity improvements.

Hoffer Plastics is hiring for "Set Up/Mold Technicians", "3rd shift".

The Mold Setup Technician is responsible for molding parts in accordance with internal and external customer requirements. This includes machine set up, auxiliary equipment set up and process parameter input. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a neat and orderly work area in accordance with 5S standards and adhering to safety policies. The Mold Setup Technician position is divided into four (4) classifications based on skill set and responsibility and pay rate will be determined accordingly.

Starting Pay $22.00 - $30.00 (based on experience) + 8% Shift Premium

$1,000 Sign on BONUS

3 rd Shift Hours are 12:00am-8:00am

Responsibilities

The following responsibilities will vary based on skill level and experience.

Level C

• Perform mold set up, and color changes to meet production demands.
• Set moulding process parameters with the assistance of a foreman, supervisor, A or B level moulding technician.
• Monitor production for accuracy and efficiency and work with quality inspectors to identify defects.
• Perform material handler duties as assigned.

Level B

• Set moulding process parameters to ensure part quality.
• Troubleshoot process, machine, and auxiliary equipment problems and make necessary changes to ensure quality and reduce downtime.
• Learn new technology as it is brought to manufacturing.
• Work with Supervisor and/or Lead Moulding Technician to identify ways to improve productivity and reduce scrap, defects, etc.

Level A

• Work with quality inspectors to identify defects and make good decisions relative to process changes.
• Ability to sample new and existing moulds.
• Keeps current with new technology in moulding, auxiliary equipment, robots, etc.
• Promote safety by abiding by all related policies and procedures and set a good example for others.
• Help maintain 5S and cleanliness in the Plant by doing assigned cleaning tasks and set a good example for others.
• Assume responsibilities of supervisor or foremen in their absence.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The incumbent will:

• usually stand/ walk most of the shift.
• frequently bend at waist, twist, kneel / crouch, climb ladders and climb up on machinery with proper fall protection
• occasionally push, pull and lift up to 75lbs. or more.
• occasionally lift above waist and or shoulder up to 75lbs and over.
• sometimes perform hand/ wrist/ finger movements and foot movements for pedal controls on forklift.
• occasionally perform keyboarding and squeezing movements.
• frequently exposed to odors, dust and oil/grease.

Qualifications

• Minimum education of High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate
• Must be able and interested in successfully progressing through leveled Moulding Technician training curriculum.
