Job description

Position Summary

This is a skilled profession requiring technical and apprenticeship training. Must be willing to learn and engage in shop safety and practices in accordance with STERIS guidelines. Receive education and techniques in manufacturing of Mold components and fixturing for repeatability and unsurpassed quality. Ability to receive knowledge by all Tool room staff in proper practices and GD&T. Willingness to learn CAD based programs and G & M code.

Duties
  • Set up and operate all standard machining and equipment including but not limited to lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, EDM, etc.
  • Fix and assemble components to ensure Molds are production ready.
  • Take measurements with micrometers, calipers and venires and gauges.
  • Receive work instruction, prepare and operate equipment in accordance with instructions.
  • Perform daily clean up, maintenance and 5S work within area of responsibility.
  • Comply with all regulatory, safety, policies and standards requirements.
  • Work with and assist Journeyman Mold Makers who work with manufacturing and engineering to build components from print designs for injection Mold machines, creating tooling used for machining and fabrication.
  • Other duties as required by management.
Education Degree

High School Diploma or GED

Specific Work Requirements
  • Must work well with others in a fast paced TEAM setting.
  • Must be able to learn from mistakes, they will happen often.
  • Attend AWT training and maintain B or above average.
  • Complete 144 hours of classroom time per year at AWT.
  • Complete 2000 hours of machine, fixture and hands-on time, a year for 4 years.
  • This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week, with occasional overtime on weekdays and/or weekends.
  • Includes Apprenticeship Program with a clear career path to Certified Mold Maker through the AWT program.
